We offer help, care, and support to you during your abortion. Contact us to set up care, either at home or at your clinic appointment. Our volunteers provide: physical, emotional, spiritual, and informational support. All services are free of charge.
What to Expect
When you reach out to the Boston Abortion Support Collective by email or phone for support, a volunteer will reach out to our collective and get back to you shortly. Please let us know where you are receiving medical care, as well as the type and date(s) of your procedure so we can assure volunteers are available. While the majority of our volunteers are in Boston, MA, we may be able to support certain clients in the Metro West, North Shore and South Shore areas. We understand that many cases are last-minute, but appreciate advance notice for our volunteers to be available, when possible.
When you reach out to the Boston Abortion Support Collective by phone, you will hear our voicemail message. A volunteer will receive your message and respond to you within 24 hours of your call. While we need to share some information with our volunteers to assure somebody is available for support, all of your information will be kept confidential and treated with respect. Please let us know your name, date(s) and location of procedure and if it is alright for a volunteer to leave a voicemail when we call back. If you have call blocking for unknown numbers, please disable it so we are able to reach you, or give us an alternative way to be in touch.
For an in-clinic procedure, your support person may be able to accompany you to and from your abortion, if you need anesthesia. While we do not formally provide transportation to or from people’s appointments, our volunteers are available to help out-of-towners navigate the MBTA or share a ride home in a taxi. If you are having a multi-day procedure, or need support for many hours, more than one volunteer may be available to help.
For a medication abortion at home, your support person may stay with you once you plan to take the Misoprostol. Our volunteers provide emotional, physical, informational and countless other types of support throughout your experience. In any case, you will be treated warmly and with respect by your support person. All of our services are free.
